ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Micromechanical Modeling of Damping in Discontinuous Fiber Composites Using a Strain Energy/Finite Element Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to describe the development and demonstrate the application of an efficient method for finite element modeling of damping and stiffness of discontinuous fiber ...
Analysis and Testing of Dynamic Micromechanical Behavior of Composite Materials at Elevated Temperatures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes the use of a recently developed high temperature impulse-frequency response apparatus to directly measure dynamic modulus and internal damping of high temperature composite ...
Improved Method for In-situ Elastic Constants of Isotropic and Orthotropic Composite Materials Using Plate Modal Data With Trimodal and Hexamodal Rayleigh Formulations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper relates a further development of an earlier work by the authors, in which they presented a method for deriving the four independent elastic constants (longitudinal and transverse ...
Improvement of Damping at the Micromechanical Level in Polymer Composite Materials Under Transverse Normal Loading by the Use of Special Fiber Coatings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes preliminary results from a systematic analytical study of the improvement of damping in polymer composites at the micromechanical level under transverse normal loading by the ...
Property Distribution Determination for Nonuniform Composite Beams From Vibration Response Measurements and Galerkin’s Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents initial results from a program to develop a “rapid screening test” for determining the in-plane fiber distributions in unidirectionally reinforced composite structures by the ...
Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Ceramics and Ceramic Composites at Elevated Temperatures
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents the preliminary results of our research on dynamic mechanical properties of silicon nitride based ceramics and ceramic composites at elevated temperatures. The temperature-dependent ...
Thermal Cycling Effects on Dynamic Mechanical Properties and Crystallographic Structures of Silicon Nitride-Based Structural Ceramics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Thermal cycling effects on dynamic mechanical properties of hot pressed silicon nitride (HPSN) based structural ceramics were investigated in a simulated thermal cycling environment from room ...
