ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

An Analytical Study of the Dynamics of an Elastic Linkage
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The transverse vibrational characteristics of the connecting rod in a slider-crank mechanism are investigated. The equations of motion are derived, simplified, and solved. For the solution, two ...
A General Method for Simulating the Flow Dependent Nonlinear Vibrations of Compressor Reed Valves
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A mathematical model is developed for the nonlinear vibrations of automatic reed valves in high-speed refrigeration compressors. Specifically considered are a general class of values which wrap ...
Electrodynamic Oscillating Compressors: Part 1—Design Based on Linearized Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An approximate method for the design of electrodynamic oscillating gas compressors is developed. A linear spring-damper load is used to approximate the gas load at a single design point. Equations ...
Electrodynamic Oscillating Compressors: Part 2—Evaluation of Specific Designs for Gas Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In Part 1, electrodynamic drivers are designed for a single, linearized load. In this part, a digital computer simulation program is described. This program more accurately models the nonlinearities ...
Load Torque Effects on the Critical Speeds of a Continuous Rotor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The paper deals with the influence of the load torque on the critical velocities of a shaft mounted on short bearings. While in most works on this subject the load torque is taken as axial, ...
Coupled Torsional and Transverse Vibration of Unbalanced Rotor
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A model of an unbalanced rotor, driven by a torsion-flexible shaft through a constant velocity joint, is used to investigate the combination-resonance effect in coupled torsional-transverse ...
Multi-Parameter Optimization of Damped Linear Continuous Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A method is presented for obtaining and optimizing the frequency response of one-dimensional damped linear continuous systems. The systems considered are assumed to contain unknown constant ...
Research Needs in Mechanical Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Conceptual Design of a Modular Robot
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In flexible automation approach to batch or job-shop production the main emphasis has always been on the re-programmability of the elements of a manufacturing system. The assumption that lies ...
