ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Analytical Treatment of the Free Vibration of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Based on the Nonlocal Flugge Shell Theory
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the current work, the vibration characteristics of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) under different boundary conditions are investigated. A nonlocal elastic shell model is utilized, which ...
Continuum Modeling of van der Waals Interaction Force Between Carbon Nanocones and Carbon Nanotubes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Using the Lennard–Jones potential, continuum modeling of the van der Waals potential energy and interaction force distributions are investigated for the eccentric and concentric single-walled carbon ...
Dynamic Analysis of Heterogeneous Pressure Vessels Subjected to Thermomechanical Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The elastic analysis of two different kinds of radially heterogeneous pressure vessels is conducted in this paper. As a first kind of heterogeneous pressure vessels, a multilayered pipe with ...
Surface Stress Effect on the Pull-In Instability of Hydrostatically and Electrostatically Actuated Rectangular Nanoplates With Various Edge Supports
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper is aimed to investigate the size-dependent pull-in behavior of hydrostatically and electrostatically actuated rectangular nanoplates including surface stress effects based on a modified ...
On New Aspects of Nested Carbon Nanotubes as Gigahertz Oscillators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Nested carbon nanotubes exhibit telescopic oscillatory motion with frequencies in the gigahertz range. In this paper, our previously proposed semi-analytical expression for the interaction force ...
Study of Small Scale Effects on the Nonlinear Vibration Response of Functionally Graded Timoshenko Microbeams Based on the Strain Gradient Theory
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In the current study, the nonlinear free vibration behavior of microbeams made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) is investigated based on the strain gradient elasticity theory and von ...
