ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Upward Vertical Two-Phase Flow Through an Annulus—Part II: Modeling Bubble, Slug, and Annular Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Mechanistic models have been developed for each of the existing two-phase flow patterns in an annulus, namely bubble flow, dispersed bubble flow, slug flow, and annular flow. These models are ...
Erratum: “A Note on the Existence of a Solution for Two-Phase Slug Flow in Vertical Pipes” (Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1989, 111, pp. 64–65)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Upward Vertical Two-Phase Flow Through an Annulus—Part I: Single-Phase Friction Factor, Taylor Bubble Rise Velocity, and Flow Pattern Prediction
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Upward gas-liquid flow through vertical concentric and fully eccentric annuli was studied both experimentally and theoretically. A flow system was designed and constructed for this study. The ...
Simulation of Transient Two-Phase Flow in Pipelines
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The laws of conservation of mass and linear momentum were applied to a two-phase mixture to formulate a mathematical model which simulates isothermal, transient two-phase flow of gas and liquid ...
A Note on the Existence of a Solution for Two-Phase Slug Flow in Vertical Pipes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This note discusses the existence of a solution for gas-liquid slug flow in vertical pipes. The analysis presented here is based on the slug model that has been originally developed by Fernandes ...
Predicting Compositional Two-Phase Flow Behavior in Pipelines
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A computational algorithm for predicting pressure and temperature profiles for compositional two-phase flow in pipelines has been developed. The algorithm is based on the coupling of the momentum ...
Design and Performance of Passive Control System for Gas-Liquid Cylindrical Cyclone Separators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The performance of gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone (GLCC) separators can be improved by reducing or eliminating liquid carryover into the gas stream or gas carryunder through the liquid stream, ...
A Unified Model for Slug Flow in Upward Inclined Pipes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effect of pipe inclination on upward two-phase slug flow characteristics has been studied both experimentally and theoretically. Experimental data were acquired for the entire range of ...
Flow Field Prediction and Bubble Trajectory Model in Gas-Liquid Cylindrical Cyclone (GLCC) Separators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Several mechanistic models have been already developed for predicting the onset of liquid carryover in gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone (GLCC) separators. However, currently no model is available ...
Aspect Ratio Modeling and Design Procedure for GLCC Compact Separators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The petroleum industry has recently shown interest in the development of innovative alternatives to the conventional vessel-type separator. One such alternative is the gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone ...
