ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Predictions of Endwall Losses and Secondary Flows in Axial Flow Turbine Cascades
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes the development of a semi-empirical model for estimating end-wall losses. The model has been developed from improved understanding of complex endwall secondary flows, acquired ...
Boundary Layer Development on Turbine Airfoil Suction Surfaces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents results of a study, supported by NASA Contract NAS3-20646 under the Energy Efficient Engine Program, conducted to investigate the development of boundary layers under the ...
Integrated Control of Rotating Stall and Surge in High-Speed Multistage Compression Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Aeroengines operate in regimes for which both rotating stall and surge impose low-flow operability limits. Thus, active control strategies designed to enhance operability of aeroengines must address ...
Performance Improvement Through Indexing of Turbine Airfoils: Part 2—Numerical Simulation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental/analytical study has been conducted to determine the performance improvements achievable by circumferentially indexing succeeding rows of turbine stator airfoils. A series of tests ...
Assessment of Unsteady Flows in Turbines
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The impacts of unsteady flow research activities on flow simulation methods used in the turbine design process are assessed. Results from experimental investigations that identify the impact of ...
Evaluation of Flow Field Approximations for Transonic Compressor Stages
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The flow through gas turbine compressors is often characterized by unsteady, transonic, and viscous phenomena. Accurately predicting the behavior of these complex multi-blade-row flows with unsteady ...
Performance Improvement Through Indexing of Turbine Airfoils: Part 1—Experimental Investigation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes the results of a study to determine the performance improvements achievable by circumferentially indexing successive rows of turbine stator airfoils. An experimental/analytical ...
Influence of Endwall Flow on Airfoil Suction Surface Midheight Boundary Layer Development in a Turbine Cascade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents the results of an analysis to assess the influence of cascade passage endwall flow on the airfoil suction surface midheight boundary layer development in a turbine cascade. ...
Unsteady Three-Dimensional Turbine Aerodynamics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: High response aerodynamic measurements were made in a large-scale, axial, flow turbine model to study the unsteadiness and three dimensionality of the flow. High response velocity vector and ...
