ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Longitudinal Strain Pulse Propagation in Wide Rectangular Bars: Part 2—Experimental Observations and Comparisons With Theory
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The plane-stress theory presented in Part 1 is shown to predict qualitatively the warping of plane sections observed in transient fringe patterns obtained using birefringent coatings and in ...
Longitudinal Strain Pulse Propagation in Wide Rectangular Bars: Part 1—Theoretical Considerations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The propagation of a longitudinal elastic strain pulse in a wide rectangular bar is considered on the basis of approximate plane-stress equations of motion. Asymptotic expressions are obtained ...
Radial Stress Release Phenomena in Plate Impact Experiments: Compression-Release
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A common objective in designing a postmortem type of plate-impact experiment is to be able to attribute the observable residual effects (such as residual strain, hardness, or dislocation density) ...
Longitudinal Wave Propagation in a Circular Bar Loaded Suddenly by a Radially Distributed End Stress
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Transient longitudinal wave propagation in a semi-infinite, circular, elastic bar loaded by a radially distributed pressure-step end stress is investigated on the basis of the exact equations of ...
Axially Symmetric Cross-Sectional Strain and Stress Distributions in Suddenly Loaded Cylindrical Elastic Bars
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Axially symmetric cross-sectional strain and stress distributions in semi-infinite cylindrical elastic bars subjected to pressure-step and velocity-impact loading are considered on the basis of the ...
