ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Life-Cycle Engineering Design
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Life-cycle engineering seeks to incorporate various product life-cycle values into the early stages of design. These values include functional performance, manufacturability, serviceability, and ...
Measurements of Droplet Velocity and Size Downstream of the Moving Valves of a Four-Valve Engine With Manifold Injection, Operated Under Isothermal Steady Suction Conditions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The four-valve head of a VTEC engine was mounted on an open cylinder and the valves and fuel injection system operated as in the engine with a rotational speed of 1200 rpm. Local measurements ...
Compatibility-Based Design for Contact Stress
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper discusses the combined use of quantitative analysis equations and knowledge-based techniques in the design of machine elements. We introduce the method of design compatibility analysis ...
Engineering Constraint Management Based on an Occurrence Matrix Approach
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In many mechanical systems, the mathematical model can be characterized by m nonlinear equations in n unknowns. The m equations could be either equality constraints or active inequality constraints ...
A Procedure Using Manufacturing Variance to Design Gears With Minimum Transmission Error
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper deals with the design of spur gears that have minimum transmission error and are insensitive to manufacturing variance. We address two stages of design: (1) generation of candidate ...
