ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

The Loading-Frequency Relationship in Multiple Eigenvalue Problems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The free vibrations of a linear conservative system with multiple loading parameters are studied, attention being restricted to pure eigenvalue problems. It is shown that the smallest frequency ...
On the Stability of Equilibrium Paths Associated With Autonomous Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The postcritical behavior and stability distribution on the equilibrium paths emanating from a divergence point associated with an autonomous system are studied within a state-space formulation. ...
On Generalized Hopf Bifurcations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Two distinct degenerate Hopf bifurcation phenomena associated with autonomous lumped-parameter systems are explored in great detail via the intrinsic harmonic balancing method. It is assumed that ...
Bifurcations of a Nonlinear Two-Degree-of-Freedom System Under Narrow-Band Stochastic Excitation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, bifurcations of a nonlinear two-degree-of-freedom system subjected to a narrow-band stochastic excitation are investigated. Under the assumption that the correlation time greatly ...
On the Analysis of Hopf Bifurcation Associated with a Two-Fold Zero Eigenvalue, Part 2: Nonautonomous System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper extends the bifurcation and stability analysis of the autonomous system considered in Part 1 to the case of a corresponding nonautonomous system. The effect of an external harmonic ...
On the Analysis of Hopf Bifurcation Associated with a Two-Fold Zero Eigenvalue, Part 1: Autonomous System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The static and dynamic bifurcations of an autonomous system associated with a twofold zero eigenvalue (of index one) are studied. Attention is focused on Hopf bifurcation solutions in the ...
On the Stability Criteria for Conservative Gyroscopic Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Two alternative but equivalent stability criteria for linear conservative gyroscopic systems are presented. The development of the criteria is based on the concept of symmetrizability associated ...
Nonlinear Theory of Elastic Stability
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Instability of Fluid-Conveying Pipes Under Axial Load
