ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Observations on the Decay of a Thermocline in a Rock Bed With No Net Fluid Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The transient thermal response of a rock bed with no net fluid flow is examined following all-day charging under clear sky conditions. The experimental system consists of 1.86 m2 (20 ft2 ) ...
Photoelastic Study of High-Frequency Stress Waves Propagating in Bars and Plates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper deals with the photoelastic analysis of stress waves in bars and plates subjected to damped sinusoidal loading. The device used to apply the loading is a piezoelectric transducer ...
Interfacial Heat and Mass Transfer in a Suddenly Pressurized, Binary Liquid-Vapor System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An analysis is made of the phase change across the interface of a suddenly pressurized, binary liquid-vapor system. The time-dependent temperature and concentration distribution, interfacial growth, ...
A Study of Incompressible Turbulent Boundary Layers in Channel Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The fully developed incompressible turbulent boundary layer in a channel has been explored using constant-temperature hot-wire anemometry. Particular attention was paid to measurements well into ...
Angled Injection of Jets Into a Turbulent Boundary Layer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Inclined laminar submerged plane jets were injected from a 1 cm slot into a turbulent boundary layer developed on a sidewall of a water channel. Profiles of mean velocities and longitudinal ...
Shear Layer Transition and the Sharp-Edged Orifice
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The present experiments provide information about free shear layer transition to turbulence and the associated three-dimensional behavior patterns of vortex growth and breakdown. The free shear ...
Separation of Additive and Subtractive Moiré Patterns
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Using a spatial filtering technique, moiré patterns can be observed that correspond to different forms of the indicial equation describing the parametric properties of gratings and moiré. In ...
Discussion: “Measurement of Surface Displacement Normal to Line of Sight by Holo-Moiré Interferometry” (Hung, Y. Y., and Taylor, C. E., 1975, ASME J. Appl. Mech., 42, pp. 1–4)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
The Effect of Longitudinal Oscillations on Free Convection From Vertical Surfaces
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The free-convection flow along a vertical plate oscillating in its own plane is given analytical treatment. The basic equations of boundary-layer flow and heat transfer are linearized and the ...
Optical Stress Analysis of Flexural Waves in a Bar
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A complete, direct, full-field optical determination of dynamic stress distributions by a combination of photoelastic and interferometric measurements is illustrated. The method is applied to the ...
