ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Jet Condenser for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A novel idea to use a jet condenser for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plants is presented here. The jet condenser offers the advantage of a relatively simple device. It consists of ...
Gas Turbine Cycles With Solid Oxide Fuel Cells—Part I: Improved Gas Turbine Power Plant Efficiency by Use of Recycled Exhaust Gases and Fuel Cell Technology
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In conventional energy conversion processes, the fuel combustion is usually highly irreversible, and is thus responsible for the low overall efficiency of the power generation process. The energy ...
Addition of Highly Efficient Bottoming Cycles for the Nth-Generation Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Power Plant
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An intermediate scale (2.0 MW gross) molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) power plant recently began operating in Santa Clara, California. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the possibility ...
Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant With Coal Gasification and Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The United States has extensive coal resources; thus, it is important to consider coal as a fuel for electric power production. This work presents a theoretical study of a novel high-efficiency ...
Gas Turbine Cycles With Solid Oxide Fuel Cells—Part II: A Detailed Study of a Gas Turbine Cycle With an Integrated Internal Reforming Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In conventional energy conversion processes, the fuel combustion is usually highly irreversible, and is thus responsible for the low overall efficiency of the power generation process. The energy ...
Reduction of Combustion Irreversibility in a Gas Turbine Power Plant Through Off-Gas Recycling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Combustion in conventional fossil-fueled power plants is highly irreversible, resulting in poor overall energy conversion efficiency values (less than 40 percent in many cases). The objective of ...
