ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Analysis of Flexible Rotor Whirl and Whip Using a Realistic Hydrodynamic Journal Bearing Model
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An analytical method has been developed for the simulation of the transient and steady-state response of flexible rotors supported by realistic incompressible-film hydrodynamic journal bearings. ...
Discussion: “Melt Lubrication of an Annular-Thrust Surface” (Allen, C. W., and McKillop, A. A., 1969, ASME J. Lubr. Technol., 91, pp. 374–379)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Stress Concentration Factors in Shouldered Shafts Subjected to Combinations of Flexure and Torsion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Geometric stress concentration factors were determined experimentally for shouldered aluminum shafts subjected to combinations of flexural and torsional loads. Diameter ratios were varied from 0.42 ...
Inception of Cavitation From a Solid Surface
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study of cavitation inception from a solid surface includes the presentation of an empirical model for the nuclei, a completely new design for experimental test equipment, a rigorous ...
Optimal Design by Geometric Programming
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Performance Characteristics of Compliant Journal Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This investigation of compliant journal bearings is directed toward the fundamental behavior characteristics which are necessary when compliance is factored into the final design. Analytical ...
Motion of a Ball in a Ball Bearing
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A method is developed which allows the digital simulation of the unsteady motion of a single ball constrained only by two moving bearing races. Any desired motion of the races can be simulated. ...
