ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Transient Growth Before Coupled-Mode Flutter
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Transient growth of energy is known to occur even in stable dynamical systems due to the non-normality of the underlying linear operator. This has been the object of growing attention in the ...
Measurement of Critical Velocities for Fluidelastic Instability Using Vibration Control
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Fluidelastic effects may be responsible for instabilities of heat exchanger tubes when the fluid flow reaches the critical velocity. The fluidelastic phenomenon is usually studied on experimental ...
The Effect of Dynamical Parameters on Precession in Rotary Drilling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Precession, which is the rolling motion of the drillstring on the walls of the borehole, is investigated by considering the various possible motions of a rotating disk in a circular hole. Due ...
Effect of Plant Interaction on Wind-Induced Crop Motion
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Plant motion due to wind affects plant growth, a phenomenon called thigmomorphogenesis. Despite intensive studies of the turbulence over plant canopies, the study of plant motion induced by wind ...
A Probabilistic Approach to the Dynamics of Wear Tests
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Wear predictions of components belonging to pressurized water reactors require impact-sliding wear tests. Some scatter of the results have often been related to the complex dynamics of the test ...
