ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Elastic Buckling of Infinitely Long Specially Orthotropic Plates on Tensionless Foundations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The results of an analytical study on the elastic buckling of long narrow orthotropic plates resting on a tensionless foundation are reported. The motivation for the present study stems from ...
Failure Mechanisms of Composite Plates With a Circular Hole Under Remote Biaxial Planar Compressive Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We report the results of an experimental investigation carried out for the analysis of failure mechanisms in fibrous laminated composite plates containing stress raisers, in the form of circular ...
Failure Mechanisms of Uni-Ply Composite Plates With a Circular Hole Under Static Compressive Loading

Modeling the Dynamic Response and Establishing Post-buckling/ Post Snap-thru Equilibrium of Discrete Structures via a Transient Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Results of a transient analysis developed to model the dynamic response and establish post-buckling/post snap-thru equilibrium of discrete structures are presented. Three systems that exhibit ...
Flexural Behavior of a Layer-to-Layer Orthogonal Interlocked Three-Dimensional Textile Composite
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The flexural response of a three-dimensional (3D) layer-to-layer orthogonal interlocked textile composite has been investigated under quasi-static three-point bending. Fiber tow kinking on the ...
A Mechanical Model for Elastic Fiber Microbuckling
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A two-dimensional mechanical model is presented to predict the compressive strength of unidirectional fiber composites using technical beam theory and classical elasticity. First, a single fiber ...
Initial Post-buckling Behavior of Thick Rings Under Uniform External Hydrostatic Pressure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The initial post-buckling behavior of thick rings under external uniform hydrostatic pressure is investigated. In the analysis, no assumptions are placed upon the relative magnitudes of the ...
