ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

On the Nonlinear Intrinsic Dynamics of Doubly Curved Shells
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The field equations of motion and compatibility for the nonlinear dynamics of doubly curved shells are recast in an intrinsic form, in terms of the metric and curvature functions of their ...
Invariant Stress and Deformation Functions for Doubly Curved Shells
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Exact invariant stress and deformation functions for doubly curved (nondevelopable) shells are derived. The invariant stress function reduces the six shell equilibrium equations into a single ...
Buckling of Cylindrical Shells Subjected to Nonuniform Axial Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The linear buckling problem of a cylindrical shell subjected to circumferentially varying axial edge loads or thermal loads is considered. The case of an oscillatory loading having a cosinusidal ...
Alternate Exact Equations for the Inextensional Deformation of Arbitrary, Quadrilateral, and Triangular Plates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Previously, a set of 9 exact differential equations was derived for the inextensional deformation of a plate bounded by two straight edges and two arbitrary curves. One straight edge is built-in. ...
Exact Equations for the Inextensional Deformation of Cantilevered Plates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A set of first-order ordinary differential equations with initial conditions is derived for the exact, nonlinear, inextensional deformation of a loaded plate bounded by two straight edges and ...
Nonlinear Shell Dynamics—Intrinsic and Semi-Intrinsic Approaches
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The intrinsic approach to the nonlinear dynamics of shells, which was introduced in [6], is reviewed and extended by the addition of appropriate initial and boundary conditions of the dynamic ...
The Nonlinear Theory of Elastic Shells: One Spatial Dimension
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
A Method for Approximate Stability Analysis and Its Application to Circular Cylindrical Shells Under Circumferentially Varying Edge Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A procedure is presented which relates the solution of the stability problem for an elastic structure subjected to a complex prebuckling stress distribution, to that of a solved stability problem ...
