ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Bubble Nucleation and Growth in Open-Cycle OTEC Subsystems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Bubble nucleation and growth in the evaporator, condenser, upcomers, and feedwater distribution systems of open-cycle ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plants are examined. The phenomenon ...
A Compact Low-Pressure Drop Desiccant Bed for Solar Air Conditioning Applications: Analysis and Design
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Requirements for silica gel desiccant beds used in the “Solar-Desiccant-Evaporative Cooling System” are discussed and the advantages of laminar flow packings demonstrated. An analysis of transient ...
Design and Testing of Thin Adiabatic Desiccant Beds for Solar Air Conditioning Applications
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Numerical Solutions of the Navier-Stokes Equations in Inlet Regions
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations are obtained for steady two-dimensional flow in the inlet region of both a tube and a channel. The entering flow is considered to be either ...
Friction Factor for Flow in Rectangular Ducts With One Side Rib-Roughened
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Numerical simulations of incompressible turbulent flow through rectangular ducts with one side rib-roughened were performed to determine pressure drop. The “PHOENICS” software package was used for ...
A Compact Low-Pressure Drop Desiccant Bed for Solar Air Conditioning Applications—2: Bench Scale Tests
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Bench scale tests of a laminar flow silica gel packing element are reported. The packing is based on a coated sheet concept with a single layer of 0.25 mm silica gel particles lining narrow ...
On the Skin Friction Coefficient for a Fully Rough Flat Plate
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A comparison of the Prandtl-Schlichting formula for skin friction of a fully rough plate with recently obtained experimental data shows an average error of 17.5 percent. It is suggested that ...
