ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Energy Pumping in Nonlinear Mechanical Oscillators: Part II—Resonance Capture
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We study energy pumping in an impulsively excited, two-degrees-of-freedom damped system with essential (nonlinearizable) nonlinearities by means of two analytical techniques. First, we transform the ...
Energy Pumping in Nonlinear Mechanical Oscillators: Part I—Dynamics of the Underlying Hamiltonian Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The systems considered in this work are composed of weakly coupled, linear and essentially nonlinear (nonlinearizable) components. In Part I of this work we present numerical evidence of energy ...
Nonlinear Vibrations and Multiple Resonances of Fluid-Filled, Circular Shells, Part 2: Perturbation Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The nonlinear ordinary differential equations describing the dynamics of a fluid filled circular cylindrical shell, obtained in Part 1 of the present study, is studied by using a second order ...
Nonlinear Vibrations and Multiple Resonances of Fluid-Filled, Circular Shells, Part 1: Equations of Motion and Numerical Results
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The response-frequency relationship in the vicinity of a resonant frequency, the occurrence of travelling wave response and the presence of internal resonances are investigated for simply supported, ...
Inducing Passive Nonlinear Energy Sinks in Vibrating Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: We study the inducement of passive nonlinear sinks in linear vibrating systems. These are substructures that absorb vibrational energy in a one-way, irreversible fashion. The systems considered ...
