ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Numerical Implementation of Complex Potentials for Gear Tooth Stress Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Stresses in spur gear teeth can be calculated by the complex potentials method, using a generalization of Hirano’s conformal mapping. Mathematical programming is used to fit the transformation ...
A Study of Spur Gear Geometry Factor Through Complex Potential Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Bending stresses in spur gears have been obtained analytically using the Complex Potential Method of the two-dimensional theory of elasticity and conformal mapping of the tooth profile. Effects ...
Computer Implementation of an Optimal Conformal Mapping for Gear Tooth Stress Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes a computerized version of the complex potential approach which is a comprehensive mathematical model for the stress analysis of spur gear teeth. The entire procedure is a ...
A Numerical Comparison of Current Mathematical Models of Twisted Wire Cables Under Axisymmetric Loads
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Several mathematical models are currently available to predict the mechanical behavior of twisted wire cables and ACSR electrical conductors subjected to axisymmetric loads. The equations for each ...
Calculation of Spur Gear Tooth Flexibility by the Complex Potential Method
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Complex potentials have already been used to calculate analytically spur gear stresses. However, their application to the calculation of tooth flexibility is not so straightforward since displacements ...
Mechanical Models of Helical Strands
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Cables, ropes, and overhead electrical conductors are complex helical wire assemblies. Several analytical models are currently available for predicting their mechanical behavior or, at least, some ...
