ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Chemically Enhanced Sunlight for Killing Bacteria
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Solar ultraviolet (UV) photocatalyzed oxidation of chemicals with titanium dioxide (TiO2 ) has received considerable attention. Much less recognized, however, is the ability of the same system ...
The Interrelation between Recurrent and Capital Costs in a Solar Thermal Process Heat System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The effect of operation and maintenance (O&M) costs on energy produced by solar collector systems is crucial to the market penetration of solar process heat as an alternative energy source. ...
Transient Response of a Latent Heat Storage Unit: An Analytical and Experimental Investigation
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An analytical and experimental investigation of the transient thermal response of a latent heat storage unit is presented. Emphasis is placed on characterization of an entire storage unit rather ...
Mixed Layer Development in a Double-Diffusive, Thermohaline System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A double-diffusive, thermohaline system has been studied under laboratory conditions involving uniform heating from below. Shadowgraph visualization has been used with temperature and salt concentration ...
Analytical Dynamic Modeling of Line-Focus Solar Collectors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Solar thermal electric power and industrial process heat systems may require a constant outlet temperature from the collector field. This constant temperature is most efficiently maintained by ...

Blade Fatigue Life Assessment With Application to VAWTS
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A cursory analysis of the stress history of wind turbine blades indicates that a single stress level at each wind speed does not adequately describe the blade stress history. A statistical ...
Accurate Correlation of Wind Turbine Response With Wind Speed Using a New Characterization of Turbulent Wind
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The turbulence encountered by a point on a rotating wind turbine blade has characteristics that in some important respects are different from those measured by a stationary anemometer. The ...
Performance Parameters of an Evacuated Tubular Collector With a U-Tube Fluid Channel
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Frequency Response Analysis of Fluid Control Systems for Parabolic Trough Solar Collectors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Previous studies of solar collector fluid control systems have utilized computer simulations of collector and piping dynamics to evaluate stability and response characteristics. To obtain reasonable ...
