ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

A Data-Driven, Statistical Feature-Based, Neural Network Method for Rotary Seal Prognostics
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Failure of the rotary seal is one of the foremost causes of breakdown in rotary machinery, and such a failure can be catastrophic, resulting in costly downtime and large expenses. Assessing the performance degradation of ...
Trial for Monitoring the Water Temperature Utilizing the Frequency Dependence of Reflection Coefficient of Ultrasound Passing Through Thin Layer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes a new concept to monitor the temperature of water utilizing the acoustic resonance, which occurs when ultrasound passes through a thin layer. In the ultrasonic transmission system that comprises of the ...
Assessment of Ultrasonic Welds Using Pulsed Infrared Thermography
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Ultrasonic metal welding is used in the automotive industry for a wide variety of joining applications, including batteries and automotive wire harnessing. During electric vehicle battery pack assembly, the battery cell ...
Sparse Sum-of-Squares Optimization for Model Updating Through Minimization of Modal Dynamic Residuals
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This research investigates the application of sum-of-squares (SOS) optimization method on finite element model updating through minimization of modal dynamic residuals. The modal dynamic residual formulation usually leads ...
Nondestructive Evaluation of Radio Frequency Connector Continuity Using Stimulated Emissions
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A wireless nondestructive fault detection test for loose or damaged connectors is demonstrated. An architecture known as the conditioned multiclassification of stimulated emissions (CMSE) is pretrained on simulated and ...
Damage Classification and Feature Extraction in Steel Moment-Resisting Frame Using Time-Varying Autoregressive Model
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In this paper, the time-varying autoregressive (TVAR) model is integrated with the K-means—clustering technique to detect the damage in the steel moment-resisting frame. The damage is detected in the frame using nonstationary ...
Regenerated Fiber Bragg Grating Sensing System for Ultrasonic Detection in a 900 °C Environment
Publisher: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Heat-resistant composites, such as ceramic matrix composites and heat-resistant carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), are expected to be used for aircraft engine parts. The development of reliable heat-resistant composite ...
