description abstractMachine design is an iterative procedure which is greatly aided by the use of rapid and efficient computer programs for commonly occurring structural components. The method of load integrals is developed and applied to the implementation of such a special purpose computer program for thin circular plates with multiple ring supports, overhanging edges, and axisymmetric but otherwise arbitrary surface loads, both distributed and concentrated. The simplicity of the input and the great efficiency of the program is demonstrated in design examples.
