description abstractA variable speed, V-belt transmission in which the belt has an asymmetrical cross-section was studied. The sliding sheaves adjust automatically to varying torque and speed requirements. A complete theoretical and experimental analysis was carried out and design equations derived were found to accurately predict performance in these drives.
