description abstractThe Reynolds equation has been solved on a digital computer for the case of 150, 100, and 75-deg bearing arcs subject to loads acting in any arbitrary direction. The results cover the entire range of attitudes and load angles and provide solutions for L/D ratios from 1 1/2 down to 1/4 . The application of these basic results to the calculation of the performance of noncentrally loaded partial, grooved, and multilobed bearings is discussed.
