description abstractA centrally pivoted crowned circular slider bearing has been analyzed and tested under conditions of incompressible lubrication. In the analysis a variational formulation was used in conjunction with finite difference techniques to obtain the operational characteristics of this slider bearing. Design curves were obtained for bearing load, friction, lubricant flow, and coefficient of friction, as a function of the crown height and the film ratio. A number of these bearings were tested under conditions of differing loads, speeds, and crown heights.
