description abstractThe criteria needed for the design of a continuously operating constant torque spring slip clutch are presented. These criteria include a tapered arbor feature which permits the design of a wearless chatterless clutch. The output torque of the resulting clutch is shown to be accurately predicted using the equations derived in the paper.
