description abstractA least-square theory for the optimization of the shaking moment of fully force-balanced inline four-bar linkages, running at constant input angular velocity, is presented. It is shown that the optimum conditions of partial moment balance are given by certain link mass distribution ratios. These optimum ratios are found to be functions of link length ratios only.
