description abstractThis paper presents two-dimensional and three-dimensional procedures for evaluation of stress distribution in rotating disks of nonuniform thickness with integral shafts. The two-dimensional analysis is utilized in a design procedure to obtain the configuration of such disks which improves the tangential distribution. The three-dimensional analysis can then be used for accurate evaluation of the stress distribution. A comparison between the results from the two and three-dimensional analyses is illustrated by several examples.
