description abstractBased on the improved general solution for a thin, circular tube subjected to in-plane end moments, the effect of the radius ratio on the stress distribution, rigidity, and stress intensification factors is studied. The existing asymptotic solutions are reexamined and modified to reflect the effect of the radius ratio. The modified asymptotic formulas are compared with the existing experimental results.
