description abstractAn analytical method is presented to determine the effect of misalignment on the performance of cylindrical roller bearings having crowned rolling members. This method utilizes a more representative load-contact deflection relationship than used in previous analyses, and further, can be employed to estimate the degree of crowning required for a given application. Fatigue-life reduction owing to misalignment, as predicted by this method, is much less severe than has been previously estimated analytically.
