| description abstract | In 1957, a research program was initiated for the study of radial lip seals. Results of this study indicated that there was a lack of seal technology concerning the seal lip characteristics and a lack of equipment to measure various design parameters necessary to good sealing practice. From a program of planned experimentation, there emerged a series of controls which, when put into practice, resulted in vastly improved seals being available for assembly and an inherent reduction in the sealing problems. | |
