description abstractWe present a geometric derivation of the kinematics of the steering action and the roller displacement in a full-toroidal continuously variable traction drive variator. In particular, expressions relating the inclination of the roller to its displacement for designs incorporating a caster angle are derived. These results are useful in the design of the control system for the variator.
