description abstractThe stress provided by the forging press for manufacturing closed die forgings (forging stress) is evaluated through dimensional analysis. Five dimensionless groups, from the process variables, are proposed in order to simplify this forging stress determination. These groups are experimentally related. This relation is compared with the forging stresses of four industrial pieces with different shapes and alloys, reported in the literature. The results show that this methodology is useful for predicting the actual forging stress necessary in industrial closed die forgings.
