description abstractExperiments are performed to actively suppress vibration of a flexible four-bar linkage mechanism bonded with piezoelectric materials as sensor and actuator. The control system is built up with computer, A/D and D/A converter, low-pass filter, voltage amplifier and charge amplifier etc. Location of the actuator is properly selected to minimize the drive energy. According to the characteristics of the control system. Internal model control strategy is employed to suppress vibration caused by periodic disturbance, i.e., inertial force of the mechanism. Encouraging results are gained when the strategy is realized in the experiments. [S0739-3717(00)01201-0]
