description abstract | The structural-acoustic response of a vehicle passenger compartment is explicitly described in terms of the structural-acoustic modal coupling coefficients and modal parameters of the system. Based on the concept of the coupling coefficients and the contribution of the surrounding panels, a practical method for noise reduction is proposed. A computer program package was developed for the noise reduction and design modification and applied to a half scale simplified model for the vehicle compartment. The experimental results supported the effectiveness of the proposed method. | |
