description abstractA study has been made to analytically determine the angular precession and critical speeds of two-bearing machines with overhung weight. The gyroscopic moment (when rotating), rotatory inertia (when not rotating), and shear deformation (in each case) are considered. Rotor precession of all types and critical frequency of nonrotating shaft are analyzed and presented.
