description abstractThe dual input describing function (DIDF) is derived here by statistical methods for the difficult case of a memory type nonlinearity. Special mathematical techniques are used to simplify the problem so that closed form solutions can be obtained. The DIDF is employed to determine the effect of an external sinusoidal signal on system limit cycles. The theoretical results are verified by tests on an analogue computer.
