description abstractThis paper describes a computer-aided design study for a large (5000 kg/hr) single-screw melt extruder processing 0.2 MFI LDPE using a quasi 2D steady-state non-Newtonian flow and heat transfer model that takes into account screw conduction. The effect of different screw materials has also been investigated.
