description abstractThe copper(II) complex with alkylphosphonic acid monoalkyl ester (CuAMP) was synthesized, and its structure shown to be laminar on the basis of fast atom bombardment mass spectroscopy (FABMS). The extreme-pressure, antiwear and antiseizure performance of CuAMP was assessed using a four-ball machine. The results showed that CuAMP exhibits better extreme-pressure and antiwear properties than tricresyl phosphate. Based on the results of surface analysis, the antiwear action mechanism of CuAMP is discussed.
