description abstractAn experimental investigation was carried out upon spark discharge generated transient cavities undergoing motion in the neighborhood of a rigid cylinder, in order to investigate the interaction between the Bjerknes attraction of the rigid cylinder and the buoyancy force. It was found that upon collapse, the direction of migration and liquid jet formation occurs at a characteristic angle. The experimental observations support the postulate that the direction of the Kelvin impulse at collapse bears close correlation with the direction of migration and jet formation.
