description abstractThis review article presents a survey of analyses and tests of bearing capacity of floating ice covers when subjected to (1) Static loads of short duration, (2) Static loads of long duration, (3) Moving loads, and oscillatory loads that cause ice fatigue. Shortcomings of the available analyses and conducted tests are pointed out. This article, which contains 163 references, concludes with suggestions for future research.
