description abstractAn analysis is presented to describe how a sliding sheet might entrain air that lubricates the interface. Closed-form results are obtained for a wide, slightly curled, elastic sheet sliding on an incompressible layer of air. Example results are calculated for a paper sheet typically used in copiers, and an approximate model for mixed lubrication is developed.
