description abstractOn the basis of the authors’ rule of sliding to transform elastic solution to plastic in a previous paper, a new method of calculating fatigue is developed by using ordinary relaxation methods in conjunction to take care of the gradual enlarging of the plastic zone. The results of the calculations agree with the experimental data by the fine grid method. The calculation method developed here with the authors’ crack propagation prediction method in another previous paper lead to an interpretation of fatigue mechanism.
