description abstractIn this paper a new principle of motion conversion is described. Mechanisms based on this principle are used to convert variable low amplitude oscillatory motions into smooth continuous rotary or straight line motions. Application of this principle to implement a high performance piezoelectric motor is described together with some variations. The working cycle of the piezoelectric actuators in the piezoelectric motor is analyzed showing energy density of the actuators on an order of magnitude higher than in conventional use. Another application to implement a torque-limited speed-reducer is also described.
