description abstract | Mathematical formulations for the working normal clearance and rake angles along the cutting edges of a multifacet drill (MFD) are developed. The effect of point geometrical parameters of an MFD on the above two angles are described by computer plottings which are the basis for optimizing an MFD. A more precise geometrical model considering a transitional region between the inner cutting edge and are cutting edge is also presented in this paper. | |
