description abstractThe paper presents an analytical method to ascertain the conditions for self-synchronization of a mechanical system excited by two unbalanced rotors with their axes of rotation arranged in any arbitrary configuration. It is shown that the application of Hamilton’s Principle reveals the existence of two solutions for the angle of self-synchronization of which only one produces a stable condition.
