description abstractA waveguide absorber removes and dissipates vibrational energy from a structure by traveling waves. The performance of a wave guide absorber is determined by the driving point impedance. In this study a viscoelastic circular plate waveguide absorber is developed and it is shown that the driving point impedance of the viscoelastic wave guide absorber can be theoretically predicted using a Mindlin type plate theory. To validate the results of this study, viscoelastic circular plates were tested to determine their driving point impedance.
