description abstractA summary is given of available methods of estimating the drag and inertia coefficients used in the Morison equation from random wave and wave force data. The methods provide coefficients that are either constant or variable for a given wave record. Numerical random wave and wave force records have been generated and are used to provide a comparison of five different methods.
