description abstractAn analysis is made of the phase change across the interface of a suddenly pressurized, binary liquid-vapor system. The time-dependent temperature and concentration distribution, interfacial growth, and the rate of condensation or evaporation at the interface are obtained. Their application is illustrated by representative numerical calculations for the phase change of one and two-component cryogenic systems of nitrogen-nitrogen, oxygen-nitrogen, and helium-nitrogen.
