description abstractExperiments are reported for fatigue tests in bending and in torsion at hardness levels from fully annealed to fully hard and super quenched. Results indicate a linear relation between fatigue strength and Brinell hardness. The relation between bending and torsion and the effects of mean stress and size are also examined.
