description abstractThis note discusses the existence of a solution for gas-liquid slug flow in vertical pipes. The analysis presented here is based on the slug model that has been originally developed by Fernandes et al., and later modified by Sylvester. An iterative scheme is presented which not only is convenient numerically, but also provides an analytical criterion for the existence of a solution for a given set of input flow conditions.
