description abstractThe effect of heat flow along thermocouple wires on the disturbance in a two-dimensional steady temperature field around the thermocouple hole is investigated. The hole is located at a finite distance from an isothermal heat input boundary in a direction perpendicular to the heat flow lines. Using the electrical analog technique, a method was devised to simulate the partial heat flow through the thermocouple leads. The developed computer-aided scanning and measurement system allowed detailed examination of the disturbed temperature field. The error in the temperature sensed by the thermocouple is evaluated and presented in a dimension less form for a wide range of partial heat flow rates.
